My name is Colin Chen. I am currently a high school senior and have been folding origami since the second grade. All the models featured on my blog are designed and folded by me.
While I was much more of an origami purest in the past (no cuts, no glue, only using a single square piece of paper) my philosophy has shifted from treating origami as a design challenge to an art form. While I still avoid cutting the paper, I have branched off from my original convictions by experimenting with different starting shapes of paper as well as putting more of an emphasis on the final appearance rather than extreme anatomical correctness.
Most of my inspiration comes from movies and video games, particularly science fiction. Star Wars and Halo pushed me to modify models from books and eventually design my own models completely. I still enjoy playing video games and you want to get in touch, you can find my Steam and battle.net contacts below.
Finally, my name is not at all meant to be offensive or indicative of my current stature. It is a nickname I acquired while playing football during recess in elementary school because, at that time, I was considerably shorter than others. Despite my short stature, I made up for it in speed and I always surprised people when I scored a touchdown. I wanted this blog to capture that same spirit of surpassing expectations relentlessly pushing forward and my nickname served as a reminder for me to keep doing so.
Thanks for reading this far, I hope you enjoy my work as much as I have had creating it.
Now that you know a little bit about me, I would love to know a little bit about you. Shoot me an email or friend request with any of the contacts below.
